5-31-10 – quick picture

Here’s a picture of everything how it looks so far, it’s really looking like a park now!

Tomorrow I’ll glue on the square coping thats missing from the right transition, and I might get started on the stairs

Nothings glued down yet, it’s all just laid out

5-30-10 – Glued on veneer

Like the title says, I glued on the veneer.

I got creative with the things with which I used to weight down the veneer, this time I used paintball co2/hpa tanks, along with boxes of screws for the vert section:

And here it is all dried up, it looks great, and it’s soo much fun to skate! I just need to add the square coping on that second ledge:

Here’s some more progress, I’ve been really busy with track and school and stuff, but I’ve got more time now, and I’m almost done with the project!

I worked on the second quarter pipe tomorrow and today, and this is what I’ve got:

Backing is nailed and glued on:

And the top parts are glued on, along with the coping:

5-16-10 – Put rail on the funbox

I finished sanding the funbox and put the coping on, it looks pretty good now!

Here’s the rail all cut out:

And heres it being glued on. I bought a few clamps the other day, they’ve proved very useful ever since I bought them. It’s nice having small clamps, but I might also get some slightly bigger bar clamps eventually.

I finally got home to get some real work done, heres what happened today:

Framed up the first half of the other halfipipe:

Then put the beams on one of the tall profiles:

I only put it on one profile so I could screw it on to the other half of the halfpipe:

Then I put on the other profile, and this is what it looks like now. I didn’t feel like covering this up with wood, so it’s a frame for now, but a very nice frame!

I placed everything on the park, it’s starting to really look like a park now!

For the funbox, I cut out profiles from MDF, and screwed them together, so it’ll be a solid piece of MDF. I’ll do the same thing with the stairs, as you can see there’s still a void next to the finished quarter pipe.

I put a little glue in the funbox, and made a sanding block from plywood, sandpaper, and staples. It’s gonna take a lot of sanding to make all the profiles match up. And it’s still not a nice surface to skate on, so I might put a thin coat of varnish on after I’m done sanding. I’ll see how it feels…

5-13-10 – Nothing today

Progress came to a halt because I left my house at 7:00 AM and didn’t get back until 9:15 PM, and by then my old neighbors would hate me for using the jigsaw. Tomorrow I’ll be away for my sister’s graduation, but I might be able to get something done in the next few days…

5-12-10 – quick update, no progress

Today I really couldn’t get anything done (besides a few kickflips!) because it was raining and I had to babysit until pretty late. Progress should pick back up tomorrow, with the small time I have after my track meet.

5-11-10 – finished tabletop

Like the title says, I finished it and put a sticker on it. It’s pretty awesome!

And I started making the funbox, it’s not interesting enough to take pictures of yet, but I’ll be sure to take pictures tomorrow, It’ll probably be done by then

5-11-10 – Made a tabletop

It’s not gonna be a part of the park, but it’ll be a really fun thing to take to school or use when I don’t wanna bring out the whole park. I glued on this angle aluminum which works almost perfect as the square coping you see, but it could’ve been a little smaller than it is… oh well. It looks nice, and it’s very solid. I’ll put on a few stickers and it’ll be ready to go!

Oh and you can see my awesome clamp made of rope to keep the aluminum on while the glue dries.

The glue’s dried, and this works great! I probably won’t need to fill it with anything. I’m gonna wait till I have the stairs and the other side done before I screw them both into the park.
